Tatum Kempers

Tatum Kempers (1976, The Netherlands) is a multidisciplinary artist and mainly makes self-portraits. Her work is autobiographical, a response to her own experiences and the times we live in. She creates her visions in photography, video, textile sculptures and/or multimedia installations in which she uses different techniques and materials.

In her photographic work she uses techniques such as light painting (painting with light), long shutter speeds, painting, the iPhone (iphoneography) or analogue techniques. With this she creates a new image, creating a more complex layering that goes beyond a standard portrait. Her most recent works are large textile sculptures. For this she uses a tufting machine and/or makes large figures using crochet.

Tatum Kempers graduated from the school of photography in Breda in 2014. She lives and works in Silvolde, the Netherlands.
